Is April a good time to go on a Safari to Kenya?

This is a very common question and I get it a lot from my clients,

What happens if the only time you are available is April.

All seasons have their advantages and disadvantages. April normally is rainy season, this does not mean it rains every day and if it rains most showers are in the afternoon or at night. But nobody knows or can predict, also some areas tend to get more rain than others so it can depend on which parks you visit.

Animals do change their habits with different weather patterns, for example in Amboseli where we are, more animals spend most of their time outside of the park when water is plenty and mostly inside the park during dry times.

Biggest advantage of April – the green season – is that prices are much lower than peak season and visitor numbers are also much lower, especially if you avoid Easter weekend. Being in a less crowded park can make up for slightly lower numbers of animals in my opinion.

I hope this was helpful.
